Queer As Folk's Hal Sparks will be putting in an appearance at Boston's Comedy Connection May 30 and 31.

Sparks got his start on E! Entertainment TV's Talk Soup, before moving into his dramatic role as Michael Novotny on Showtime's American version of Queer As Folk, an adaptation of the U.K. hit series that followed the tangled romantic ties of a group of gay and lesbian friends.

For five seasons, Sparks played opposite Harold Gale, who portrayed Brian Kinney, a handsome, defiantly sexual and unattached gay professional. Eventually, Novotny's TV character wed his life partner Ben, played by Robert Gant.

After Queer As Folk finished its run, Sparks appeared in several movies, including a comic cameo in Spider-Man 2. Sparks also appeared on several reality TV shows, including a stint as host of the WB's Survival of the Richest and a judge, along with Roseanne Barr, on Nick at Nite's America's Funniest Mom.

Sparks appears May 30 and 31 at The Comedy Connection, located in Faneuil Hall, 245 Quincy Market Bldg., Boston.
