With box office business blowing by the billion-dollar mark, Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" will doubtless have a sequel. But you won't have to wait years for the film's first "spinoff" – a Weird Barbie doll based on Kate McKinnon's character in the film.
Mattel – the company that first introduced the iconic Barbie doll, and followed up later with all the other dolls that populate its Barbie-verse – revealed the Weird Barbie doll on Aug. 4. Weird Barbie's look is based on the movie character's portrayal by openly lesbian "SNL" and "Big Gay Sketch Show" alum Kate McKinnon, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The doll is true to all the details of Weird Barbie on the film, EW noted, coming "complete with facial markings, a mismatched outfit, and legs that can do the splits."
In the film, McKinnon's Weird Barbie has "been disfigured by rough play," Business Insider recounted, and "was among the standout characters" in Gerwig's live-action feature.
The $50 dolls will be available for pre-order now through Aug. 18, though they won't be delivered to fans until next May, Business Insider detailed. What's more, Weird Barbie will only have a limited edition – so snap yours up ASAP.
