Pedro Pascal Dances His Way to Joy in New Short Film – and Gay Twitter is Down to Dance Along
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Everyone's favorite zaddy Pedro Pascal tunes out heartbreak, dials up some upbeat music, lip-syncs "You're perfect," and dances his way to bliss in a Spike Jonez short film, titled "Someday," that advertises Apple's AirPods.
The five-minute movie is the latest example of how Apple has "turned to Hollywood A-listers to pitch its wares," Variety noted, before describing the action: Pascal plays a heartbroken guy leaving a cafe and feeling lonesome following a breakup, with the cold and icy city streets around him reflecting his inner desolation.
But once he pops in his AirPods and cues up Guitarricadelafuente's "El Conticinio" – with the racket of the noisy city canceled out – the city's chaos organizes itself into synchronized moves around him. A brief pause to give directions breaks things open even wider as Pascal catches sight of himself in a happier time – summer, to judge from the light's warm, golden glow – and he's being invited over by what appears to be a lesbian couple.
A new song on his play list – Sam i & Tropkillaz' "Perfect" – comes up and, with a flick of a fingertip, Pascal activates noise cancelling once again, transforming the street scene into a surreal music video fantasy, flowers and impromptu dance moves courtesy of Beyoncé and Rihanna choreographer Tanisha Scott turning everything into a cheerful soundscape filled with happy passersby and sudden blizzards of red and yellow flower petals.
"You're perfect!" Pascal lip syncs from the middle of a flash mob of danvers. "Now work it!"
Gay Twitter was giddy with glee at the ad's drop.
