Adam Rippon Developing Figure Skating Series for NBC

"Champion figure skater Adam Rippon is developing a comedy series about figure skating at NBC," Variety reports.

"The Untitled Figure Skating Comedy" is will center on a female skater with "oversized ambitions, underwhelming talent and boundless heart" who "fights her family, failing knees and every other skater on the ice."

"Rippon formally retired from competition in 2018 after competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics," Variety adds. "He consistently ranked as one of the top skaters in the world during his career, winning gold medals at events like the Four Continents Championships and the World Junior Championships. He went on to win Season 26 of "Dancing with the Stars" at ABC."

Rippon co-created the series with Susan Kittenplan,with both serving as executive producers. Billy Finnegan ("Grace and Frankie") also co-creator and is attached to write the script and executive produce. 20th Television will produce.

In the past year Rippon has branched out into being "a choreographer, occasional coach and 'fairy godmother' to 2022 Olympic hopeful Mariah Bell, a former training partner in Southern California," NBC Reports.

Bell competes at Skate America in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday, live on NBC Sports.
